MARATHON VALUE PORTFOLIO
CELEBRATES FIFTH ANNIVERSARY
Ranked Among Nation’s Top Mutual Funds
Atlanta, Georgia, March 28, 2005 - Marathon Value
Portfolio, the Atlanta based mutual fund managed by Marc
Heilweil, celebrates its fifth anniversary while having been
consistently ranked as one of the outstanding mutual funds
in its category. Marathon Value seeks returns greater than
its S&P 500 benchmark, while also seeking less volatility.
Notably, Lipper Fund Services considers Marathon Value less
risky than 99 percent of all equity funds. Even with being
ranked one of the lowest risk funds, it has nevertheless
outperformed the S&P 500 by more than 70 percent over its
five-year history. That performance puts Marathon Value
Portfolio in the top 6 percent of funds in the Lipper
Multi-Cap Core category for the five-year period.
Marathon Value Portfolio (MVP) is managed by Atlanta based
money manager, Marc Heilweil. MVP offers an excellent
opportunity to new investors to enter the market for a
nominal initial investment. Marathon also is appealing to
self-managed retirement accounts as a simpler way to manage
their equity allocation. The fund invests in companies from
all sectors of the market, and even some international
companies. Mr. Heilweil states, “I started Marathon with a
view of simplifying the process for investors to pick a fund
since too many funds are narrow in what they will buy and
don’t offer diversified exposure to the market.”
Marathon Value Portfolio is a no-load, general equity mutual
fund. The Fund uses a value investing strategy to give
investors broad exposure to the equity market. MVP was
started five years ago with a Net Asset Value (NAV) of
$9.32, and ended 2004 with a dividend-adjusted NAV of
$13.89. The ticker symbol for Marathon is MVPFX and the Fund
can be purchased through many brokers or directly at
Marathon.
Past performance is not indicative of future results. Share
price will fluctuate over time so that the value upon sale
may be worth more or less than the original cost. The
prospectus should be read carefully before investing, and is
available by calling 1-800-788-6086. The S&P 500 index is a
widely recognized unmanaged index of common stocks.
Performance figures reflect the change in value of the
stocks in the index, reinvestment of dividends and are not
annualized. The index is unmanaged and is not available for
direct investment. The Lipper five-year ranking is based on
a category universe of 348 funds.
