Marc Heilweil is a Portfolio Manager at Gratus Capital, LLC, an Atlanta based investment manager. Previously, he was president of Spectrum Advisory Services, an Atlanta based investment counseling firm whose clients include high net worth individuals and pension and profit sharing plans. Marc has over thirty years of experience in the investment industry. In addition to his responsibilities of overseeing Spectrum Advisory, he is the lead manager of the Marathon Value Portfolio. Mr. Heilweil received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Yale University in 1967. After graduation he spent a year in Bogota, Colombia as a Fulbright Scholar. He attended Yale Law School from 1971-1974 and graduated with a J.D. Degree in 1974. He worked in securities law with the law firm of Arnall, Golden & Gregory before starting his own investment management business in February 1977.
A successor firm, Spectrum Advisory Services, Inc. was founded in 1991. Mr. Heilweil took over as portfolio manager for Marathon Value Portfolio in March of 2000. He served on the Board of Directors of Amli Residential Properties Trust, a NYSE listed real estate investment trust, from 1994 until its sale in early 2006. He has served, or presently serves, as an advisor to private companies and not-for-profit organizations.
Marc Heilweil’s community interests focus on efforts to help young people reach their full potential. He serves on the Advisory Board of CHRIS Kids, volunteers with Chamblee Charter High School’s “We the People” program, and contributes to his public high school’s foundation. He also headed a legal Explorer Post.
